Why Sun Exposed Hair Needs Protection this Summer
All the obvious reasons!!
The sun is the number one cause for brassy color, making hair color fade. The sun’s harmful UV rays damage the already-vulnerable protein structure of color-treated hair. Oxygen in the air coupled with water or light from the sun cause accelerated oxidation of the hair. When the two fuse together the color fades. If water is full with chemicals and minerals it can alter color as well . Salt, heat and sweat dry out hair and roughen the cuticle, giving color molecules an easy way to escape from the hair shaft. Chlorine (never a good idea) can also create brassy hair. It causes a chemical reaction that counteracts with the actual tone of the color.
